Definition of independence

I had longed to be independent in various ways since young. Financially independent, physically independent, emotionally independent... I believe all these are traits of successful career women across the globe, and yearn to be one of them in future. It's a good thing to be independent people would say, bcos dependent people are thought to be inferior and lack confidence.

Lately, I've realised that it's not such a good thing to be fully independent, though people may think independence is how one shapes and maintains it. When you feel frustrated, stressed, sad or happy, you will need someone to share that feeling with you. It'll be a torture without someone being there to support you whenever they can, be it friends or family members. Maybe I don't have what it takes to be independent yet, or maybe I'm just dependent by nature. All these maybes make me doubt my ability, however, my standpoint of having someone beside you when you need it still lies.

Everyone needs friends, or at least the support of family members to pull you out of any difficulties/crisis. The world is still beautiful after all troubles subside. Without anyone to grab you when you are falling is really terrible, and instead of feeling you yourself fall, you may feel that the whole world is falling down on you instead. We all need that little bit of space to express our emotions and our thoughts. Bottling things up will make one all tied up, and even though on the surface that person may appear happy, it may not be so once they're alone in their own world.

To all people out there, listen to what your friends/family members have to say. Give them that bit of freedom to express their feelings. It might be too late when you realised they're fraught with troubles too much to handle.
